Community Coalitions
Here at the Durham County Department of Public Health, we work with individuals and groups throughout Durham to help address our community’s health priorities. In partnership with dozens of organizations throughout Durham County, we work within coalitions to support healthy living habits, respond to the opioid epidemic, promote positive childhood experiences, improve sexual health, and more. Community Health Worker Roundtable
The Community Health Worker Roundtable is a collaborative effort between the Partnership for a Healthy Durham and the Bull City Strong program. The goal of the Roundtable is to build a space for community health workers (CHWs) and their allies to expand efforts to serve the community. The meeting provides multi-lingual conversation, with interpretation available in English and Spanish.

Durham ACEs and Resilience Taskforce (DART)
Durham is a resilient community where all people thrive. The Durham Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resilience Taskforce (DART) aims to build upon the strengths of Durham's communities and systems, advancing a responsible approach to prevent and respond to toxic stress and trauma.
DART meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month, from 9:30am - 11:00am ET. Anyone who is interested in attending is welcome. Please register here.
DART publishes a monthly newsletter with information about local events and resources related to resilience and adversity, trainings, funding opportunities, and new research and guidance on addressing adverse childhood experiences. Click here to sign up for the newsletter.
Durham Health Ministry Network
The Durham County Health Ministry Network (DC HMN) welcomes faith-based organizations in Durham County that desire to partner with the Durham County Department of Public Health to make an impact on the health of congregation members through resources and planned efforts. Membership in the Network is free and offers plenty of benefits. Learn more about the Network here:

Durham Joins Together to Save Lives
Led by Durham County Commissioner Wendy Jacobs and Dr. Wanda Boone, CEO of Together for Resilient Youth, Durham Joins Together to Save Lives (DJT) works to eliminate and prevent substance misuse through education, peer support, and treatment. DJT leverages different knowledge, skills, and experiences from across the county, working together in committees focused on mental health and substance use disorder treatment, prevention and education, data, and policy. Collaboration helps the team make a targeted impact and avoid duplicating efforts.

Family Matters Durham Community Action Team
We invite anyone interested in maternal and child health to join our collaborative efforts to improve health outcomes and promote equitable services. Our Family Matters Durham Community Action Team (CAT) includes family leaders, community members, local stakeholders, and partners—all dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Durham County.
We meet every other month, either in person or virtually, in a welcoming environment filled with engaging discussions, interactive activities, networking opportunities, and training sessions aligned with our program goals. Together, we can harness our collective expertise, experiences, and resources to create meaningful change, ensuring that every child and every family in Durham County has the opportunity to thrive. Fast-Track Cities Durham (FTCD) Advisory Council
The Fast-Track Cities Durham (FTCD) Advisory Council is designed to provide strategic guidance, foster community engagement, and ensure the effective implementation of Durham County's HIV response. Comprised of representatives from diverse sectors, including healthcare providers, community-based organizations, individuals with lived experience, and public health experts, the Advisory Council aims to create a collaborative and inclusive environment where all voices are heard. The council works to align FTCD initiatives with community needs and priorities, drive policy recommendations, and oversee progress toward the 95/95/95 targets. By integrating community input and expertise, the Advisory Council plays a vital role in reducing stigma, addressing disparities, and promoting health equity across Durham County.

Firearm Injury Prevention Partnership (FIPP)
The Durham County Firearm Injury Prevention Partnership (FIPP), formerly the Durham County Gun Safety Team (GST) is an interdisciplinary, apolitical, community group of partnering agencies and concerned citizens, led by the Durham County Department of Public Health. The FIPP works with partners on education and public awareness initiatives in an effort to increase the safety of citizens and reduce the incidence of gun violence, in all its forms, in the community. Some of the first FIPP initiatives included safe storage of firearms messaging, distribution of free gun locks and promotion of the Asking Saves Kids (ASK) Campaign.
The FIPP meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month, from 9AM-10:30AM, via the Teams platform. If interested in joining the FIPP, call 919-560-7765.
Men’s Health Council
The Men’s Health Council encourages men from Durham County to join together to socialize, exercise and learn together. They hold Community Walks at various sites throughout Durham County one Saturday a month and welcome a variety of guest speakers to every session.

Partnership for a Healthy Durham
The Partnership for a Healthy Durham is a coalition of local organizations and community members with the goal of collaboratively improving the physical, mental, and social health and well-being of Durham’s residents using racial equity principles. There are hundreds of active members in the Partnership.
The Partnership has six committees that focus on Durham County health priorities, communications, and equity.
