STD/HIV Testing

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

Services in Clinic 6

  • We routinely test for: HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Trichomoniasis (Trich), as well as Hep C when indicated
  • Results are available in about 7 business days; 10-14 business days for HIV and HCV. Sign up for UNC My Chart to get test results once reviewed by provider.

Testing Only services considered if:

  • You feel fine but want to know your status
  • You are not having any symptoms

STI Clinicians Visit (Doctor, Nurse, NP) services consider if:

  • You are having symptoms
  • Recent known STI exposure

Community Testing

  • ITTS (I Take Testing Seriously) provides HIV/STI testing (Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Hepatitis C) and education in various sites in Durham.
    Testing and education are offered at time convenient to you, confidential, free and available to any Durham County resident.

HIV+ Services

  • Taking the step to get in care can be challenging, but extremely helpful in managing HIV. No client will be denied services because of inability to pay.

HIV/STDs Information

Do you know about Syphilis?

  • You may have Syphilis with no active symptoms.
  • There is a cure for Syphilis
  • Without treatment Syphilis can cause serious harm to your body.
  • Men who have sex with men should test regularly for Syphilis.
  • See a clinician if you think you have Syphilis or you have been told you were exposed to Syphilis.

Hepatitis C

Testing is available through any service

Consider testing for Hepatitis C if:

  • You were born between 1945-1965.
  • You use or have ever used needles to inject drugs, even if you only did this one time or did it years ago.
  • Have a sex partner who has Hepatitis C.
  • You are HIV positive.
