Fast Track Cities
About Fast Track Cities
The Fast-Track Cities initiative is a global partnership aimed at accelerating the HIV/AIDS response in cities worldwide. Cities commit by signing the Paris Declaration, initially focused on the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets and now aiming for zero new HIV infections and zero AIDS-related deaths. Supported by key partners like the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN-Habitat), and the City of Paris, the initiative emphasizes data transparency and progress monitoring through a global web portal. IAPAC provides technical assistance, implementation planning, capacity-building, stigma reduction, and quality of life assessments for people living with HIV.
FTCD Advisory Council
The Fast-Track Cities Durham (FTCD) Advisory Council is designed to provide strategic guidance, foster community engagement, and ensure the effective implementation of Durham County's HIV response. Comprised of representatives from diverse sectors, including healthcare providers, community-based organizations, individuals with lived experience, and public health experts, the Advisory Council aims to create a collaborative and inclusive environment where all voices are heard. The council will work to align FTCD initiatives with community needs and priorities, drive policy recommendations, and oversee progress toward the 95/95/95 targets. By integrating community input and expertise, the Advisory Council plays a vital role in reducing stigma, addressing disparities, and promoting health equity across Durham County.
What are the 95/95/95 measures and why are they important?
With an overarching framework combined with tailored solutions to meet the needs of individual communities, the FTC initiative aims to meet three targets by 2030 related to HIV outcomes:
95% of people living with HIV (PLWH) are aware of their HIV status
95% of people diagnosed with HIV are actively retained in care
95% of people retained in care achieve and maintain undetectable status
Striving to achieve the 95/95/95 measures will ensure that those diagnosed with HIV in Durham County are able to live long, healthy lives and will also ensure that HIV can no longer be transmitted to their partners.
