Bull City Strong Projects & Events
COVID information in the community
Bull City Strong worked to place COVID informational ads, in English and Spanish, throughout the Durham community. Informational posters and door hangers were placed on home doorknobs, gas station pumps, and within stores, barbershops, and salons.
COVID-19 & flu vaccination clinics
Bull City Strong has partnered with LATIN-19 and Walgreens to administer free COVID-19 and flu vaccines to the community on multiple occasions. We appreciate the support of the volunteers from La Semilla, LILA, Duke Health, Durham County Department of Public Health, El Centro Hispano, and Durham Parks and Recreation.
If your organization would like to host a vaccination clinic, please e-mail healthfairs@dconc.gov or call 919-560-7720.
Community Health Fairs
Bull City Strong regularly participates in community health fairs, providing information about health literacy, COVID-19 and the role of vaccinations. At these events, we provide COVID-19 vaccines, STI testing, food, over-the-counter medications, health information, and more to the Durham community.
Recent partners have included:
- MedAssist with African-American COVID Task Force (AACT+)

Say Something Strong
Say Something Strong communicated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic among historically marginalized communities in Durham. Bull City Strong funded artistic, journalistic, and/or community engagement projects that reflected or worked to resolve health equity issues resulting from COVID-19. Priority was given to projects that reached and created positive impact in historically marginalized communities.
Project goals
- Goal 1: To tell the evolving local story of community health and resilience among Durham communities during the COVID pandemic.
- Goal 2: To share vital and accurate public health information in ways that reflect Durham’s diversity
