Family Planning Services

Different types of contraceptives.

Our Family Planning Clinic provides education, counseling, and birth control methods to decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies or to prepare for a healthy pregnancy and baby.  Services are available to women from the time they start their first period until menopause unless they have had a tubal ligation (tubes tied) or a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus).  All our services are confidential and do not require parental consent.

Services Include

  • Pap Smears
  • Clinical breast exams
  • Immunizations
  • Counseling and education on birth control methods and STI prevention.
  • Emergency Contraception and counseling.
  • Pregnancy testing and counseling.
  • Initiation or continuation of birth control methods
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing as indicated

Birth control methods available:

  • Condoms
  • Pills
  • NuvaRing
  • Patches
  • Depo-Provera injection
  • Hormonal and Copper Intrauterine Devices (IUDs)
  • Nexplanon (birth control implant)

Vasectomy

The Regional Vasectomy Program helps provide men with vasectomy services. This program is sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and is open to any male who is 21 years of age or older. The cost is on a sliding fee scale, based on family size and income, so that any man who wishes to obtain a vasectomy, regardless of income, can get one.
