Welcome to the Nutrition Clinic!

Our mission is to empower you to take control of your health.  Meet with our Registered Dietitians to receive truly personalized recommendations and support.  Our individualized approach allows you to reach your lifestyle and wellness goals with a plan that includes your favorite foods rather than taking restrictive measures that leave you frustrated and feeling deprived.  We believe variety leads to optimal nutritional status.  Learn more about our services below.

Nutrition Counseling for Adults and Children

Our Registered Dietitians address many health concerns both for adults and children.  We develop a personalized plan that meets your specific needs and goals. And because we understand that making dietary changes can be tough, we’ll be there to provide you with the encouragement and motivation you need to stick with it.

Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support

Taking Care with Diabetes/DSMES classes

Whether you’re just learning about a new diagnosis or life changes have made managing your diabetes more difficult, we’re here to help. Taking Care with Diabetes is a Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support program that offers comprehensive education proven as effective at lowering blood glucose levels as some medications. Join our American Diabetes Association-recognized program as we cover topics such as nutrition, physical activity, medication, prevention of complications, and healthy coping.

How to Make an Appointment

Our Dietitians are not just nutrition pros—they are partners in your health journey. Expect 45–60-minute one-on-one sessions, available in person or by phone.

Each session includes:

  • tailored guidance
  • evidence-based advice
  • motivational support for healthier choices aligned with your health goals
  • Interpretation for non-English speakers and people with hearing impairment

Hours and location:

Our Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  We are located on the second floor of the Health and Human Services Building in Clinic #23.

How much will it cost?

We accept Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and other insurance plans that include nutrition counseling as a covered benefit.  For those not covered by insurance, fees are based on a sliding scale according to income.

How to make an appointment or refer a patient:

Please fill out and submit a referral form:  Medical Nutrition Therapy Referral (jotform.com)  Pediatric patients require a referral from the Primary Care Provider. Our staff will call you to set up an appointment.  Contact our front desk at 919-560-7791.  Spanish speakers please call 919-560-7500.

Meet Our Team

All our dietitians are Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN), which means that they have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition and passed a national exam.  Additionally, they complete several continuing education credits annually. Each of our RDNs holds a certification in a specialized area of nutrition such as diabetes, weight loss, pediatric care, and integrative & functional nutrition.  Our dietitians can develop personalized nutrition plans and always take an evidence-based approach to nutrition guidance.
