Safety and Worker Compensation
Durham County Government’s Safety and Workers' Compensation division is dedicated to promoting a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment for all employees. Through proactive risk management, comprehensive training, and responsive support services, the division works to minimize workplace injuries, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of safety across all departments.
Core Services and Program Areas Include:
- Oversight of Vehicle Operations Policy and Procedures: Ensuring safe and compliant use of County vehicles through clear policies and driver accountability.
- Safety Incident Notifications and Guidelines: Providing timely reporting protocols, investigation procedures, and corrective action guidance for workplace incidents.
- Ergonomics Program: Offering ergonomic education and individualized workstation assessments to prevent strain and repetitive stress injuries.
- Occupational Health and Safety Manual and Guidance: Maintaining up-to-date safety manuals and resources to support departmental safety compliance and awareness.
- Safety Training Programs: Delivering targeted training sessions on workplace hazards, injury prevention, and safe practices.
- First Aid and CPR Training & Certification: Equipping employees with essential emergency response skills through certified courses.
