On-Site Wellness Clinic
Durham County Government is proud to offer access to an onsite Wellness Clinic, a free medical resource for DCo regular status employees, as well as their dependents ages 2 and up on our DCo health plan. Schedule an onsite or virtual appointment to see nurse practitioners for checkups, minor illnesses and health-related matters.
The most important thing people can do for themselves and their families is to stay healthy. Durham County Government provides an onsite medical clinic that features a free, confidential way to help employees meet their health goals.
Our clinic is staffed by Family Nurse Practitioners and a Registered Medical Assistant, and offers a variety of services including:
- Health Risk Assessments
- The development of treatment plans and follow up for chronic disease management
- Tobacco cessation
- Weight management
- Episodic care (sinus problems, flu, general medications)
- Lab tests
- Medication prescriptions

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Employees may go to the clinic for issues ranging from minor, non-work related injuries to assistance in managing chronic diseases.
The clinic services are provided at no cost to the employee and employees do not have to use sick leave for Wellness Clinic appointments/visits.
Meet Your Practitioners and Medical Assistant
Katherine "Bryan" Thompson
Family Nurse Practitioner
Bryan graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2000 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2008 with a Masters of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner.
She has a clinical interest in family practice focusing on the overall health and wellness of individuals with an emphasis on preventative care through a healthy lifestyle. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her family, water sports and spending time outside.
Lisa Giodano
RN, CFNP
Lisa has over 20 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner with focus in primary care, women's health, aesthetics, dermatology, weight management and diabetes.
She enjoys being active outdoors, hiking, biking, running, or walking her dog. She is an avid reader and loves to travel with her husband Louis.
Jennifer Bush
Jennifer is a dedicated Medical Assistant with over 18 years of experience in healthcare. Having worked in private practice for 16 years, Jennifer now brings expertise and compassion to the Durham County Wellness team. Passionate about patient care, Jennifer loves working closely with patients, helping to educate them about their overall health and well-being.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending quality time with family, traveling, and making memories. Jennifer is a proud parent to a 20-year-old daughter who is a Junior in college and an 8-year-old poochi ( poodle chihuahua mix), who add joy to everyday life.
