NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAID TRANSPORTATION (NEMT)

 

NEMT provides transportation to doctors' offices, hospitals, dialysis centers, dental offices and all other health-related appointments for persons in need. Durham County residents who have Medicaid and who have no other means of transportation receive free transportation to medical appointments. Transportation services may include bus tickets and van service. Medicaid recipients must complete a transportation assessment form before service can begin. The assessment will be done over the phone by one of our social workers.

Eligibility Requirements: 
• Must have active Medicaid
• Must have transportation assessment complete

Where is Transportation Service Available?
Service is available for locations in Durham County, the Brier Creek area, and Chapel Hill area.

** Other areas outside of the aforementioned areas will require special authorizations.**
