Medicaid
General information
NC Medicaid covers most health services. It includes doctor visits, check-ups, emergency care, hospital services, maternity and postpartum care, vision and hearing services, prescription drugs, behavioral health, preventive and wellness services, dental/oral health care, devices, and more. There is no monthly fee and copays are never more than $4.
Am I eligible for Medicaid?
You must be a US Citizen or provide proof of eligible immigration status unless you are only applying for emergency services.
You must live in North Carolina and provide proof of residency.
You must have a social security number or have applied for one.
Income and resource limits vary depending on the Medicaid Program and eligibility.
How do I complete an application for Medicaid?

Paper applications can be dropped off at the agency drop boxes. Drop boxes are located both inside and outside of the building.
How do I complete a recertification?
- You can complete recertification EPASS using https://epass.nc.gov/.
- Mailed to the office.
- Dropped off at the Human Services Building using the DSS drop boxes located outside and inside of the building.
- Dropped off at Lobby 28 on the 2nd floor of the Human Services building.

How do I complete a change?
- You can report a change to DCoMedicaid@dconc.gov.
- Mailed to the office.
