What are Work First Services?
Work First Cash Assistance, Refugee Cash Assistance, and Work First Employment Services are provided to enable families to remove barriers and participate in a wide range of activities that will prepare individuals to achieve economic self- sufficiency.
Supportive Services
Types of Supportive Services you may potentially be eligible for:
- Job Search, Skills Training, Work Experiences, Job Readiness, Vocational referrals
- Transportation Assistance and Work-related Expenses
- Employment related equipment supplies
- Domestic Violence, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse and Referrals
- Benefit Diversion Assistance

How do I complete an application?
- Apply immediately through EPASS using the following button:
- Fax a completed application to (919) 560-8208
- DCo DSS office is temporarily accepting applications via the telephone. To complete a telephone application, contact DCo DSS office at (919)560-8000.

Hours of operation: 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
Paper applications can be dropped off at the agency drop boxes. Drop boxes are located both inside and outside of the building.
How do I complete a recertification?
Work First recertifications MUST be conducted face-to-face. You will receive the documents in the mail and will be contacted by a worker for the interview.
How do I report a change?
