Kathy R. Everett-Perry, Esq.

Chief Employment & HR Counsel

Kathy R. Everett-Perry serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief Employment Counsel for Durham County Government. She has been with the County for 19 years and previously served for a decade as a Senior Assistant County Attorney.

Prior to her service with Durham County, Kathy worked as an Attorney for the North Carolina Department of Justice and the North Carolina Department of Commerce in the Employment Security Division. She also practiced law in the private sector with Roberti, Wittenberg, Lauffer & Wicker, P.A. In addition to her legal and human resources expertise, Kathy has contributed to academia, serving as adjunct faculty in both the School of Business and the School of Law at North Carolina Central University.

Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, graduating with Honors from North Carolina A&T State University. She went on to receive her Master of Arts degree in Organizational Psychology and Counseling (with Honors) from North Carolina Central University, and her Juris Doctor degree (with Honors) from the North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she served as Business Editor of the NCCU Law Review.

An engaged and active member of her community, Kathy is a member of the Durham Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Triangle Park (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and is a Lifetime Associate of the Durham Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She currently serves on the Board of The Carter Community School of Visual and Digital Arts and the Board of The ARI Center.
