Conservation Contests
Durham County students in 3rd through 12th grade are invited to show off their creativity and knowledge in our Conservation Contests. The contests challenge students to illustrate their knowledge through a poster, essay, slide show, or public speaking presentation. Prizes are awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winner in each category.
The contest theme can be incorporated into the NC DPI Standard Course of Study for each grade level. Correlations are available upon request.
We can pick up contest submissions from your school. Contact Lisa Marochak to schedule a pick-up time at lmarochak@dconc.gov or 919-560-0558.
This year’s theme: We All Live in a Watershed!
Deadline: Submissions are due to the Soil and Water Conservation District office 5 PM on January 30, 2026.
