Fire Prevention & Life Safety

What We Do

Fire Prevention in the Office of Emergency Services is dedicated to the service of our community. Our mission is to protect life, property and the environment through fire and life safety education. 

Fire Prevention (also known as the Fire Marshal’s Office) supports the community by providing:

  • Public fire education
  • Community risk reduction
  • Fire Investigations
  • Enforcement of the North Carolina Fire Code which includes fire inspections and permitting
  • County volunteer fire department support and coordination
  • Plan review for construction projects
  • Home fire safety education
