STARR

STARR

STARR (Substance Use Treatment and Recidivism Reduction) is a trauma-informed comprehensive substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment program. STARR offers intensive treatment and services to address needs of incarcerated men and women in the Durham County Detention Facility. The STARR program provides evidence-based therapeutic services including screening, brief interventions, assessments, and gender specific treatment.

In addition to substance use treatment, the STARR curriculum includes vocational training, anger management, parenting/family systems and other elements.

STARR provides referrals to community services to all eligible detainees who are referred for substance use services, those who have successfully completed the STARR Program and remain incarcerated.

Transitional case management services are provided with proactive planning and attempts to ensure a seamless transition from incarceration to community-based services immediately upon release.
