Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Durham County encourages the use of electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce local air contamination and greenhouse gas emissions. When charged in off-peak hours, EVs result in fewer greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline-powered vehicles. The County has 10 all-electric vehicles and 59 hybrid vehicles, 12% of County fleet, which are used by multiple departments including Public Health and Engineering and Environmental Services.
Both the City and County make it easier for residents and visitors to use EVs by installing publicly available charging stations throughout the community. We encourage operators of EVs to only charge vehicles in off-peak hours (usually overnight) to reduce the greenhouse gases produced from electricity generation.
The charging station locations are listed below. Since March 16, 2026, all City-owned public EV chargers are operating under a PAY-TO-CHARGE model. This change ensures the City can continue to maintain and expand their EV charging network for residents and visitors. Please also note that standard parking fees apply in the parking decks. Thank you for supporting sustainable transportation in Durham!
