What we do

The mission of Durham County Engineering and Environmental Services Department is to protect regional water quality through the administration of the sewer use, stormwater and erosion control ordinances; to improve County facilities through the management of capital projects; to protect and enhance our environment through promoting sustainable policies and programs; to preserve natural and scenic lands, farms and forests; and to foster a strong, diverse artistic and cultural environment through administration of the Public Art Program.
