How do I reserve a room?

Refer to the “Book a Room” section.

What is considered an “Afterhours” event?
  • Weekdays: Any time after 5:00 PM until 8:00 AM when the building reopens for normal business.
  • Weekends and Holidays.
What are the costs to rent the meeting room(s)?
  • Room Rental Fee.
  • Security for Afterhours Events: Determined by County Security Manager Policy at the current market rate.
  • Janitorial Fees for Afterhours Events: Based on the current rate determined by each facility.
  • Overtime fees may apply for events outside of regular business hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and any event reserved within 72 hours prior to the event day.
Do I need security for my event?
  • Business hour events may require security on an as-needed basis, depending on the type of event, crowd size, facility location, and other factors.
  • Any Afterhours event is required to have security, with the number of staff determined by the County Security Manager based on estimated attendance, facility location, and event type.
  • Afterhours requests may be denied if the security vendor cannot fulfill the requested event hours.
  • For security requests made within 72 hours of the scheduled event time, the event organizer will be charged the overtime rate.
Do you have audio-visual equipment?
  • Yes, equipment varies by facility location and is subject to availability. Contact Facility Use for more information.
  • You will need to bring your own laptop, which can connect to the in-room A/V system via HDMI (event organizers must provide the HDMI cable) or VIA.

Is there internet access in the meeting rooms?

Yes, the Durham County Facility Use Meeting Spaces have wireless internet.

Are we allowed to bring food to our meeting?
  • Yes, outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted without additional fees. It is the responsibility of the event organizer to clean up any catering, including leftover food or trash. Additional janitorial fees may apply for cleanup of event catering by facility staff.
  • A prep space is available in Admin 2 and the Human Services Building for an additional fee.
What is included in room setup?

Basic room setup is included with your reservation. Types of setups include Classroom, Theater, and Banquet. Please speak with Facility Use about your requested setup.

What items are prohibited?

A list of prohibited items is included in the Facility Use Policy

What are the rules regarding alcohol at events?
  • Alcohol can be served at select facilities throughout the county. Additional approvals by Durham County staff are required to permit the consumption of wine and beer in Durham County meeting spaces. Speak with Facility Use for more information and requirements.
  • Alcohol is only permitted during after-hours events in select spaces.
  • Beer, wine, and malt beverages are permitted. Spirituous liquors are not allowed.
