National County Government Month
April is National County Government Month (NCGM). Each year, Durham County Government joins more than 3,000 counties nationwide in the celebration of counties and the opportunity to champion the county workforce, boost civic engagement and raise public awareness of the important role of county government.
Since 1991, the National Association of Counties has encouraged counties across the country to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of counties.
Durham County takes pride in our responsibility to protect and enhance the wellbeing of our residents in efficient and cost-effective way. Throughout the month-long celebration, Durham County Public Information works with departments to showcase how the county supports residents and builds healthy, safe and vibrant communities.
Durham County is a workforce of more than 2000 employees committed to public service. Each April, the community is invited to participate in county government celebration activities.
