Bunnag and Carignan Latest Guests on ‘In Touch with Durham County’ Show

Durham, N.C. – The October 2025 edition of the “In Touch with Durham County” show from the Durham County Public Information Office is here with important information for our community. On our latest episode, host Deborah Craig-Ray, the Durham County Chief Communications Officer, welcomes Durham County Food Security Coordinator Raina Goldstein Bunnag and Durham Crisis Response Center Executive Director Shana Carignan to the show.
Watch it on our YouTube channel here – https://youtu.be/hhZs3QdkO6Q.
The goal each month is to have great conversations with our Durham County Government staff, elected officials, and community partners to provide residents with the most up-to-date happenings, programs, and services. The show is available to watch on the DCo YouTube channel (subscribe here); as well as on the Durham County Government website and the Durham Television Network.
Bunnag helps coordinate local government efforts around food security in our community, something she is well-versed in. Before becoming the County’s second Food Security Coordinator, Bunnag worked for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s Durham's Innovative Nutrition Education (D.I.N.E.) program. Her job is to help with the County’s efforts of developing a just food system that is better for the planet and works to end food insecurity.
Bunnag discusses the on-going development of the Durham Food Security Network and how it is bringing together the plethora of resources in our community that are available to everyone – many of which can be overlooked by community members.
Carignan joins the show for the first time just as we enter the month of October – which is designated in Durham County and in the entire nation as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. First, Carignan talks about her role at the Durham Crisis Response Center – which works with the community to end domestic, sexual, and family violence and human trafficking through advocacy, education, support, and prevention.
She talks about the fourth annual “Reading of the Names” held on October 1 each year in recognition of the lives lost in Durham to domestic violence this year. Local dignitaries and community members join in for the reading of the names and a silent walk around the block of the Durham Family Justice Center in a show of solidarity, support, and commitment to remember those lost and dedication to victims and survivors of domestic violence. The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8:30 a.m. at 101 E. Morgan Street. She also talks about services available to our community and other events and programs.
We hope you learn something from this month’s show!
