The County Early Childhood Coordinator is responsible for driving county and community-wide efforts around Early Childhood initiatives and practices in Durham County. The position provides leadership for Durham County’s involvement in the Early Childhood Action Plan (ECAP) and the County’s work and investment in Durham PreK, among other initiatives designed to support the wellbeing of young children and families.

Ileana Vink is the Durham County Early Childhood Coordinator in Durham County. She supports community programs serving families of young children in Durham County as well as the public Durham PreK program. She is passionate about food access, emotional well-being, and early learning. She previously worked for DINE (Durham's Innovative Nutrition Education) at the Durham County Department of Public Health. In that role she taught nutrition education at childcare programs serving low-income families, and support school gardens. Prior to DINE, Ileana worked in outpatient clinical nutrition at Duke Health where she made home visits with patients on Medicaid. She continues to provide medical nutrition therapy as a volunteer at Samaritan Health Center. She completed her MPH in Nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BC in Political Science from Boston University.
