New Library Director Guest on April 2026 Edition of “In Touch with Durham County” Show

Conners discusses her vision for the Durham County Library System Show dedicated to National County Government Month
April 1, 2026

Durham, N.C. – The latest episode of the “In Touch with Durham County” show from the Durham County Public Information Office is now available. The show features two timely and engaging segments spotlighting important information for our community. In the episode, airing throughout the month of April, host Deborah Craig-Ray, the Durham County Chief Communications Officer, welcomes our new Library Director Dana Conners, who joined the County in January 2026. The second segment highlights National County Government Month, an annual celebration recognizing the nation’s 3,069 counties.

The episode opens with an in‑depth conversation with Conners, who reflects on her more than 30 years of public library experience across North Carolina and Texas. She shares her seasoned perspectives on libraries and her vision for leading Durham’s award‑winning library network into its next chapter.

In the second segment, Craig-Ray introduces National County Government Month 2026. NCGM is observed every April and led by the National Association of Counties. The observance was established in 1991 to encourage counties to educate residents about the essential roles and responsibilities of local government. Craig-Ray notes the Board of County Commissioners recently proclaimed April 2026 as National County Government Month and invited the public to recognize the observance and participate in opportunities to learn more about what counties do to improve the quality of community and quality of life.
