The Durham Board of County Commissioner (BOCC) will hold a Closed Session at:

Purpose:

  • To consult with an attorney employed or retained by the public body in order to preserve the attorney-client privilege between the attorney and the public body, which privilege is hereby acknowledged to G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3).
  • To consult with an attorney employed or retained by the public body in order to preserve the attorney-client privilege between the attorney and the public body, to discuss the National Opioid Litigation which privilege is hereby acknowledged; pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a)(3)

 

The Durham Board of County Commissioner (BOCC) will hold a Regular Session at:

Commissioner meetings

The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on the Durham Television Network (DTN). There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings. 

 Residents who wish to observe meetings and are not able to attend in person, are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually

The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

  • Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
  • Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option

  • All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 12th.
  • All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

Announcements

  • Redwood Convenience Site Closed for Renovation - The Redwood Convenience Site at 100 Electra Road closed on April 1 for a year‑long renovation project. During the closure, residents in unincorporated Durham County are encouraged to visit one of the County’s two other convenience sites: Parkwood Convenience Site (5928 Highway 55) and Northern Convenience Site (11894 N.   • Burn Ban Continues in Durham - A countywide burn ban went into effect in Durham County on March 23, 2026. Due to ongoing dry conditions and increased fire danger, the ban issued by the Durham County Office of Emergency Services, Fire Marshal Division, remains in effect until further notice. The N.C. Forest Service has also issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective March 28. Durham County has the authority to issue the ban within 100 feet of a structure while the NC Forest Service can issue a ban from 100 feet outward. The two bans combined prohibit open and recreational burning anywhere in the county.

  • 2026 Durham County Food Security Grants Program - Are you a nonprofit working to improve food access and strengthen food security in Durham County? This is your chance to grow your impact! Durham County is now accepting applications for the 2026 Food Security Grant, offering funding opportunities for community food security projects. Nonprofit organizations can apply for $20,000-$50,000 to support projects that improve food access and strengthen community food security.   • County Veteran Services to Operate with Limited Services April 22-24 - Residents seeking assistance from Durham County Veterans Services from Wednesday, April 22, through Friday, April 24, 2026, should note that limited services will be available as staff attend an annual accreditation training. The department will resume normal operations on Monday, April 27. During this period, appointments with a veteran services officer will not be available. However, customers can still reach Veteran Services by calling 919-560-8387, emailing veteranservices@dconc.gov, or visiting their office at 201 N. Roxboro Street, Durham NC, 27701.
