Commissioner meetings
The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on DTN. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options.
A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.
While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually
The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option
- Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
- Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option
- All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 8th.
- All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network
The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

2026-2027 Durham PreK Application Opening Soon - The 2026-2027 Durham PreK application opens March 2, 2026. All children in Durham County who will be 4 years old by August 31, 2026, are eligible to apply. Join a virtual information session with Durham PreK on February 21 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. to learn about Durham PreK and the application process. Durham YouthWorks Summer Employment Program Accepting Applications - Durham youth can now apply for the 2026 Durham YouthWorks Program, a summer employment initiative that helps young people build workforce skills while earning income. If you are a Durham resident, age 14-21, Durham YouthWorks is a perfect opportunity for you! The Durham YouthWorks Summer 2026 program will provide a paid opportunity for youth and young adults to learn work readiness and career skills. The YouthWorks program requires you to be a Durham City or Durham County resident, age 14-21 by June 30, 2026. Participation may be determined by lottery. Applications are due on February 21. Resource Conservation Workshop Application Now Open - Rising 10th-12th graders are invited to apply for a summer camp exploring careers in natural resource conservation and agriculture! Spend a week on North Carolina State University's campus exploring forest ecology, examining soil properties, learning to track wildlife, and more! Durham Soil and Water Conservation District's Board of Supervisors is committed to sponsoring at least one student to attend. This means that cost of attendance is covered! City-County MLK Celebration Rescheduled - The annual Durham City-County Martin Luther King, Jr. Employee Observance has been postponed to February 24. Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is the purpose of the annual Durham City-County MLK Employee Observance. The event will begin at 11 a.m. inside First Presbyterian Church located at 305 E. Main Street in downtown Durham. Dr. Karrie G. Dixon, Chancellor of North Carolina Central University, will be the keynote speaker for the 21st annual celebration event. The Durham City-County Martin Luther King, Jr. Employee Observance is free and open to the public.
