Commissioner meetings

The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on the Durham Television Network (DTN). There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings. 

 Residents who wish to observe meetings and are not able to attend in person, are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option

  • Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
  • Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option

  • All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 23rd.
  • All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

  • Get Your Student Caught Up on Their Vaccines - Students have 30 days from the first day of school to get caught up on all required vaccines. The Durham County Department of Public Health has all required vaccines available in their immunization clinic, by appointment or by walk-ins as schedule permits. Children who are underinsured or have no insurance can be vaccinated at no cost. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call the immunization clinic at 919-560-7608, or learn more on their website at dcopublichealth.org/immunization.  

  • Additional Free Mosquito Dunks Available at Durham County Department of Public Health - The Durham County Department of Public Health is offering a second and final round of free Mosquito Dunks for Durham County households that did not receive any during July’s initial giveaway. Limit one six‑pack per household while supplies last. Pick up a pack at the Environmental Health Division’s front desk in the Durham County Human Services Building (414 E. Main St., Clinic 25) Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Walk‑ins are welcome, and households must provide their address at pickup.

  • Cooperative Extension Seeks Applicants for Extension Master Food Volunteer Program- Love cooking and giving back to your community? Durham Cooperative Extension is looking for residents to join the Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) Program. Interested residents are invited to join an upcoming information session to learn how they can turn their skills and passion into meaningful support for families across Durham. EMFVs support and amplify Cooperative Extension’s nutrition and cooking programs and can lead their own cooking demos in the community. Applications for the new cohort open later this summer, and anyone interested must attend an information session.   • Real Talk! Community Conversation about Health on Wednesday, August 26 – Join Durham County Library and Duke Cancer Institute for Real Talk! Community Conversation About Health, a community-centered dialogue about health and wellness for adults at Stanford L. Warren Branch Library (1201 Fayetteville St) from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26. This open conversation brings together community members and health professionals to explore topics such as cancer prevention, clinical research, screening opportunities, and other health questions that matter to you. Bring your curiosity, questions, and experiences, and connect with others in a welcoming, informal setting.

  • County to Observe Labor Day Holiday Most Durham County Government offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Offices will reopen with normal operating hours on Tuesday, September 8. For details on how the holiday may affect specific County services, please visit www.dconc.gov.

  • Declaration of Independence: Rare Prints on Display – Durham County Library invites you to view rare 19thcentury prints of the Declaration of Independence at Durham County Main Library from September 820, 2026. As part of We the People: A Duke & Durham Initiative, Durham County Main Library and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University will present three historic copies of the Declaration of Independence, on loan from the David M. Rubenstein Americana Collection.

    This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to explore how the nation’s founding document was visually rendered and circulated in early American history. For more information about the exhibit, visit: https://durhamcountylibrary.libcal.com/event/17394114.

  • Durham County Transportation Staff wants your feedback! The Public Comment Period for the Q1 Amendments to the Fiscal Year 2027 Durham Transit Work Program is open now until Thursday, August 27.
