Commissioner meetings
The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on DTN. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options.
A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.
While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually
The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option
- Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
- Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option
- All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22nd.
- All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network
The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

Building Safer Communities: Community Learning Session on Violence Reduction - The next Joint City-County Violence Reduction Learning session will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Holton Resource Center located at 401 North Driver Street. Latisha McNeill, Greensboro Director of Community Safety, will be the keynote speaker for the session. This collaborative effort brings together key departments from both local government organizations to ensure a unified, strategic approach to reducing violence. The initiative is jointly led by Durham County’s Justice Services Department and Community Intervention & Support Services Department, along with the City’s Police Department and Community Safety Department. Durham County Virtual Budget Discussion - Attend Durham County Government's moderated virtual community conversation to hear directly from key County staff about operations and budget priorities on Monday, March 30, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. The session will include a live Q&A. 2026 Durham 4‑H Summer Camps - Registration is now open for the 4-H Summer Camps. The Durham 4-H Summer Camps empower youth through meaningful connections, hands‑on experiences, and essential life skills that support their growth. This camp offers low‑cost day experiences and some of the most affordable residential camps in the area for youth ages 6-18. A limited number of scholarships are available to help cover costs. Breastfeed Durham’s Pregnancy Expo & Family Festival - Join Breastfeed Durham for a free community celebration on Saturday, May 2nd from 3-6pm at Hillside Park located at 1301 S. - Free Tax Filing Help Available - Durham County is partnering with the Durham Benefits Access Coalition to promote free and accessible tax filing options. You may qualify for valuable tax credits that help with housing, food, childcare, and more. Households earning $89,000 or less can file online with chat/email support or virtual assistance from IRS certified preparers. It is important to know that tax refunds do not count against SNAP, WIC, SSI, Medicaid/Medicare, TANF, or most other benefits. File by April 15, 2026, at www.GetYourRefund.org
- William V. Bell Building - Durham County has officially renamed the former Admin II Building at 200 E. Main Street as the William V. Bell Building. A dedication ceremony was held on Friday, March 20, celebrating the legacy of former commissioner and mayor William V. “Bill” Bell, whose decades of leadership and service have left a lasting impact on the community.
