Commissioner meetings

The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on DTN. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options. 

A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.

While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually

The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option

  • Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
  • Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option

  • All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 7th.
  • All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

  • Join Us for Innovate Durham Demo Day 2025 – Durham County invites everyone to join us for the 2025 Innovate Durham Demo Day on Thursday, December 11 from 6-8 p.m. at American Underground (201 W. Main Street)! Innovate Durham turns Durham County into a lab for innovation, where local entrepreneurs test new ideas and solutions that improve community life. Meet this year’s cohort - Novexa, championed by the Cooperative Extension, and Financial Boss, championed by Durham County Library - as they share their pitches, progress, and next steps.   • Winter Holidays Closures – Most Durham County Government offices will be closed for the winter holidays on the following dates: Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Dec. 26 (reopening on Monday, Dec. 29) and on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 (reopening on Friday, Jan. 2).   • Caregiving During the Holidays – Join the Alzheimer's Association on Monday, Dec. 15 from 2-3 p.m. for a virtual lesson on understanding Alzheimer's and dementia. This course shares what caregivers are facing during the holiday season, ways to support them, and strategies to adjust expectations and holiday plans.   • Welcome Baby Winter Coat Drive – The Welcome Baby 13th Annual Winter Coat Drive continues through January 9, 2026. The Welcome Baby team collects new and gently used children’s coats, hats, gloves, and scarves in sizes newborn to 8 years old. Donate at 721 Foster Street during normal business hours, and other locations throughout the community. Find out information at www.welcomebaby.org.

  • 2025 Tax Bill Payments – The Durham County Tax Administration allows residents the option of making partial payments on real property taxes through January 5, 2026. Payment may be made by check, bank draft, money order, cash, or online at https://bit.ly/DCoTaxBillSearch. No payment plans will be extended once bills become delinquent after January 5, 2026. Property owners may visit www.dconc.gov/tax or call 919-560-0300 for more information.

  • Farmers and Landowners Breakfast on Dec. 18 – Join the Durham Soil and Water Conservation District for a breakfast and discussion on farm law with Andrew Branan. We will discuss liability, trespassing, and more! Breakfast starts at 8 a.m., and presentation at 8:30. Event on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Farm Bureau office, 1901 Hillandale Road.
