Durham, N.C.  – On Friday, May 2, 2025, the Durham County Department of Transportation launched a new Durham Transit Tracker Dashboard dedicated to tracking progress on accomplishing the goals of the Durham Transit Plan. The dashboard outlines budgets and expenditures on transit projects funded by the Durham County Transit Plan half-cent sales tax approved by Durham County voters in November 2011. The dashboard also highlights metrics of key projects, such as route ridership and project delivery status of major infrastructure projects.

This dashboard was created to ensure that community members, partners, and stakeholders have accessible, transparent access to information on how the Transit Plan is contributing to major projects that benefit transit riders in the Durham community. The Durham Transit Tracker will allow Durham community members to track progress on key transit projects funded by the Transit Plan, as well as key metrics on transit projects, such as the number of bus stops constructed as part of a project.

“During the update of the Transit Plan adopted in 2023, residents shared that they wanted more regular information about how the funding was being used and what was being accomplished,” said Ellen Beckmann, Durham County Transportation Director. “The dashboard is part of Durham County’s commitment to transparency and accountability for these funds. We’re proud to highlight the initiatives and accomplishments of our transit operators and partners.”

The new dashboard currently displays data as of the end of December 2024. As data is added on a biannual schedule, the dashboard will show trends and progress over time. The data displayed is compiled from the collaborative efforts of Durham County, the City of Durham, the Triangle West Transportation Planning Organization, and GoTriangle.
