Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Available at the Durham County Department of Public Health

October 21, 2024

Beginning Monday, October 21, the Durham County Department of Public Health will offer appointments for updated Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines (2024-2025 formula) for all people age six months and older. Due to limited vaccine supply, vaccinations are available by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling 919-560-7608.

Vaccination is covered by most private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid, and is available at no cost for people who do not have insurance. Those with insurance should bring their insurance card to their appointment. At this time, Prizer and Moderna brand vaccinations are available while supplies last; Novavax vaccines are not currently available.

Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Updated COVID-19 vaccines were authorized in August 2024 to target current variants and provide better protection against serious consequences of COVID-19, including hospitalization and death. All people age six months and older should receive an updated vaccine, regardless of previous doses. Most people who recently received a 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine should wait at least two months before receiving an updated, 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine. For more information on staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccines, visit the CDC’s website.
