Beginning July 3, face masks will be optional throughout the Durham County Health and Human Services (HHS) Building. This is an update from previous guidance removing mask requirements in common areas of the HHS Building while maintaining requirements within clinic spaces. Masks will continue to be available upon request for guests entering Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) clinics.

The CDC continues to recommend mask usage under certain circumstances, including, but not limited to, the following:

• If you have been exposed to COVID-19
• If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
• If you are caring for someone who has tested positive for COVID-19
• If you are living in an area with a high levels of hospital admissions due to COVID-19
• If you have tested positive for COVID-19

The CDC also recommends additional precautions for individuals who are at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19 or are caring for someone who is. Learn more about CDC guidance for mask usage here.
