Durham County Community Health Assessment surveys to begin soon

March 17, 2025

Durham, N.C. — Beginning this month, volunteers and staff from the Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH), Partnership for a Healthy Durham, Duke Health, and community will be stationed at various locations and events in Durham County to ask questions about the community’s health as part of the Durham County Community Health Assessment (CHA) survey process. The CHA is a public health survey conducted every three years to assess Durham County’s strengths and needs regarding the community’s health and well-being. Volunteers and staff will administer the surveys to identify the health priorities of Durham County residents. El Centro Hispano and North Carolina Central University will also serve as partners to conduct representative survey samples.

The purpose of this survey is to hear directly from Durham County residents about health and well-being, community strengths, improvement areas, and more. The survey will gather insights on the key health priorities identified by Durham County residents in 2024. These priorities are affordable housing; access to health care and health insurance; community safety and well-being; mental health; and physical activity, nutrition, and food access. This information helps the public and elected officials identify, address, and respond to key health issues in the community.

Each survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes and will be availa ble in English and Spanish. Participants who complete the survey will receive a thank-you gift. All responses will remain anonymous and will not be linked to any individual. DCoDPH staff and survey volunteers will be in uniform, wearing identical blue t-shirts that say ‘Survey Team’ on the front.
