Baggett-Best, Rosser Join Us for July Edition of “In Touch with Durham County”

We talk about programs and resources available at DCo libraries and Public Health’s Firearm Injury Prevention Partnership’s community efforts around gun safety
July 3, 2023

Durham, N.C. - The Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents important information on our programs and services with the "In Touch with Durham County" show for July.

In this month's episode, host Durham County Chief Communications Officer Deborah Craig-Ray welcomes guests Durham County Library Director Tammy Baggett-Best and Durham County Public Health Education Specialist and member of the Firearm Injury Prevention Partnership, Donna Rosser.

The show is available to watch on the DCo YouTube channel here; as well as on the Durham County Government website and the Durham Television Network.

In segment one, Baggett-Best returns to our show to discuss one of the County's most popular departments - the Durham County Library system and the wonderful programs, events and services that are available to residents both online and in person! She also discusses the library's annual Summer Reading Program for youth, how the library is addressing the digital divide and various forms of literacy. Baggett-Best also gives us a preview of upcoming programming and even discusses what she is reading.

In segment two, Rosser comes on to discuss a very important topic in our community - gun safety in our households. First, she talks about the Firearm Injury Prevention Partnership (FIPP), formerly known as the Gun Safety Team, and the programs and services that it provides. She also chats about North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper's new initiative - NC Safe. The FIPP has given away thousands of free gun locks to community members and continues to host events geared at educating the community on safe gun ownership.

We hope you enjoy the show!
