Notice of Discharge of Untreated Wastewater

Durham, N.C. – Durham County had a discharge of untreated wastewater on June 16, 2026, of an estimated 95,000 gallons located near 4018 Patriot Drive. The untreated wastewater was discharged into a storm drain but did not reach surface water. The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on June 16, 2026, and is reviewing the matter.

General Statute 143-215.1C requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters. This news release has been prepared and issued in accordance with that regulation.
