Fifth Annual Tri-County Livestock and Pasture Field Day

Durham, N.C. - On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Durham, Orange, and Person counties, along with the North Carolina Cooperative Extensions from Durham, Orange and Person counties hosted the 5th Annual Tri-County Livestock and Pasture Field Day. Professionals from around the Piedmont region gathered at City Lake Farm in Roxboro, to learn about the latest advancements in livestock nutrition, pasture management, and sustainable farming practices.
The Tri-County Livestock and Pasture Field Day is a hands-on learning experience with topics varying yearly. This year's session topics were: animal health, poisonous plants and chemical use, flies and parasites, and silvopasture and agroforestry. The sessions were led by Bill Moss, Patrick Burch, Dr. Emily Cope, Renee Leech, Brian Parrish, Colby Lambert, and John Lyttle. Participants rotated between each station with a break for lunch. Firsthand Foods (Durham) provided all the hamburgers for lunch, and Smokey Dave's (Roxboro) did the catering. Those who attended also received Pesticide and Animal Waste credits.
