Durham County Solid Waste Convenience Sites to Close on December 13

Durham, N.C. - The Durham County General Services Department will close all three Durham County Solid Waste Convenience Sites on Friday, December 13, 2024. The department will be closed for professional development training for its staff, and all services for the department will be suspended for the day.

The convenience site locations include Parkwood at 5928 Highway 55, Redwood at 100 Electra Road, and Northern at 11894 N. Roxboro Road.

Durham County's roadside recycling collection services will not be affected by the closure.

Following the one-day closure, residents with a current 2024-2025 solid waste decal may resume disposing of garbage, recycling, and yard waste at the County's Convenience Sites following each site's regular schedule. The Northern and Redwood Convenience Sites will reopen on Saturday, December 14 at 7 a.m. The Parkwood Convenience Site will reopen on Monday, December 16 at 7 a.m.
