Durham, N.C. – Toppled trees and overturned boardwalks are among damage sustained during Tropical Depression Chantal. As a result, several trails maintained by Durham County Open Space are closed. The New Hope Creek Bottomlands Trail, as well as all trails at the Matthews Road Access on the Little River, are closed until further notice. The public is asked to avoid these areas while Open Space staff continue to assess conditions and make repairs.

Most trails at Little River Regional Park remain open, including Hollow Rock Nature Park.
