Durham, N.C. –  It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that Durham County Emergency Medical Services announces the death of Lt. Kevin O’Connor. Lt. O’Connor passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025. 

Lt. O’Connor joined Durham County EMS in 2000. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2021 and most recently served under Capt. Steve Kincaid. He also worked as a tactical paramedic with the Durham Police Department’s Selective Enforcement Team. 

Lt. O’Connor was an avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, a fierce advocate for justice and equality, and a devoted supporter of Liverpool Football Club. He will be remembered for his compassion and dedication to EMS. 

Lt. O’Connor’s memorial service will take place on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. It will be held at The Summit Church North Campus, 3263 Rose of Sharon Rd., Durham, NC, 27712, following a procession from City of Oaks Funeral Home on Green Road in Raleigh, NC.
