County to Close Due to Inclement Weather on Monday, January 26

Durham, NC – All Durham County Government non-essential operations and offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to the continuing winter weather conditions affecting Central North Carolina.
The Board of County Commissioners’ meeting scheduled for Monday, January 26, will be cancelled. The agenda items will be moved to their Work Session to be held on Monday, February 2.

County Convenience Sites
The Durham County Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Sites will be closed due to inclement weather and hazardous conditions.
Roadside Recycling Collection
Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, Monday's recycling route for unincorporated Durham County residents has been cancelled. Roads must be cleared and safe before collection can resume.
Residents are encouraged to download the “Durham County Recycles” mobile application for the latest service alerts. Residents can download the mobile app for free on Apple devices in the App Store or Android devices in the Google Play Store.
Durham County Department of Public Health
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government schedule and close on January 26.
For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closures, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.

Durham County Social Services
The Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will also follow the Durham County Government schedule and close on January 26.
Residents are encouraged to call 919-560-4600 to reach an on-call social worker to report child abuse and neglect. Residents should call 984-243-1280 to report adult abuse and neglect, an on-call social worker will respond.

Durham County Library
All Durham County Library locations will follow the Durham County Government schedule and close on January 26.
