Beginning Monday, October 14, 2024, the department will officially operate from its new location at 201 N Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27701, previously home to the Durham County Board of Elections.

To facilitate the relocation, Veteran Services will cease operations at its current office in the Human Services Building located at 414 E Main Street, Durham, NC 27701, at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024. The department will be closed to the public during the move from Tuesday, October 8, 2024, through Friday, October 11, 2024.

Veteran Services will re-open to the public and resume normal operations at its new location on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. Signage will be placed inside and out of the Human Services Building and at their new location to inform residents of the move.

"Our relocation to this site is centered on providing better accessibility and convenience for our veterans, their families, and our community," said Durham County Veteran Services Director Lois Harvin-Ravin. "The new location offers front-door parking, which will significantly grant easier access for those with mobility challenges. This move reflects our ongoing commitment to improving services and ensuring that all who visit can do so with comfort and convenience. We believe this centrally located facility will make a positive impact on the overall experience for our veterans and their families."

During the closure, veterans needing immediate assistance can contact the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs at 1-800-827-1000 for general inquiries or the Durham VA Health Care System at 919-286-0411 for medical concerns.
