County Announces Delayed Opening Following Inclement Weather Conditions, January 27

Durham, N.C. — Due to the potential for hazardous travel conditions following Winter Storm Fern, Durham County Government will delay opening on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. All County offices will open at 12:30 p.m., resuming normal business operations at that time.

County Convenience Sites
The Durham County Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Sites will follow the Durham County Government schedule and delay opening on January 27.
Roadside Recycling Collection
Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, Monday's recycling route for unincorporated Durham County residents has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 28.
Tuesday’s recycling collection will be collected on Tuesday starting at 8am.
Residents are encouraged to download the “Durham County Recycles” mobile application for the latest service alerts. Residents can download the mobile app for free on Apple devices in the App Store or Android devices in the Google Play Store.
Temperatures raised following the winter storm, melting ice which may cause many roads to remain hazardous, particularly bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas overnight. Residents and visitors are advised to travel carefully when commuting is necessary.
