2026 Durham City-County MLK, Jr. Observance Postponed

Durham, N.C. – Due to hazardous conditions following Winter Storm Fern, the annual Durham City-County Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Employee Observance has been postponed ensuring the safety of employees, participants, and the community members planning to attend the event. The event, originally scheduled for January 27, will be rescheduled to Tuesday, February 24.

Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is the purpose of the annual Durham City-County MLK Employee Observance. The event will begin at 11 a.m. inside First Presbyterian Church located at 305 E. Main Street in downtown Durham.

Dr. Karrie G. Dixon, Chancellor of North Carolina Central University, will be the keynote speaker for the 21st annual celebration event.
