Durham County Management Fellowships
The Durham County Management Fellowship (CMO Fellow) program offers an invaluable opportunity for Durham County residents to engage in a diverse array of responsibilities that are vital to effective executive management. Fellows will support various tasks related to budget management, strategic research, and the execution of special projects tailored to the needs of different departments.
These special projects will vary in scope and may require a high degree of self-direction, allowing fellows to take initiative and demonstrate leadership in their work. By collaborating with multiple Durham County Government Departments, fellows will gain hands-on experience and insight into the inner workings of local government, all while contributing to meaningful initiatives that impact the community. This multifaceted role is designed to enhance the fellows' professional development while providing essential support to the county’s management team.
Eligibility
- To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in a graduate program at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) or Duke University.
- Alternatively, be a Durham resident currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited four-year institution.
This ensures that we support local talent and foster educational opportunities for students in our community.
Compensation
- $20 per hour for college graduates
- $23 per hour for graduate students (actively enrolled)
Length of Fellowship Program
- One-year, Full time or part-time
Durham County Management Internships
Durham County Management Interns will play a key role in supporting various aspects of executive management, budget management, strategic research, and special projects. Interns will gain hands-on experience by working closely with different departments within the Durham County Government, allowing them to engage in a wide range of tasks that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of local governance. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills while working on impactful projects that benefit the community.

- To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate program at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) or Duke University.
- Alternatively, be a Durham resident currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited four-year institution.

- $18 per hour
