What We Do
The County Manager serves as the chief administrator of the County, appointed by and reporting directly to the Board of Commissioners. In this role, the Manager supervises and coordinates the activities of County departments, ensuring that all orders and policies are effectively implemented. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for enforcing the policies and guidelines mandated by both federal and North Carolina state statutes.
Each year, the Manager recommends an annual budget and provides insights into various business matters, representing the County in dealings with different agencies. The Manager also carries out other duties assigned by the Board, all while striving to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of County operations.
Claudia Hager
The County Manager is appointed by the Durham Board of County Commissioners and has the responsibility of overseeing the administration of County government. Claudia Hager has been the Durham County Manager since 2024.
