Environmental Affairs Board
What We Do
The board considers topics such as watershed protection, natural resource protection, air quality, environmental impacts of industrial development, environmental education, green building design, energy conservation, and global climate change. The EAB typically meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Committee Room on the second floor of City Hall.
The board consists of 15 voting members, seven of which are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, representing the following vocations or professions: air resources, air quality, engineering, education/communications, public health and public policy. Members serve without compensation and must live within the corporate city limits. City and County taxes must not reflect any delinquency at the time of submission of the application.
- To advise the City and County with regard to environmental policy;
- To educate the public and local officials on environmental issues;
- To perform special studies and projects on environmental questions as requested by the City or County;
- To study changes in environmental science and law; and
- To promote intergovernmental and public/private cooperation.
