What We Do

The Durham City-County Appearance Commission (DCCAC) is tasked with enhancing and improving the visual quality and aesthetic character of Durham City and County. Its mission is:

To cultivate excellence in design, preservation and stewardship of the natural and built environment.
To communicate the economic, social, and aesthetic value of good design and planning.
To celebrate exemplary design within the community.

The Durham City-County Appearance Commission is made up of 15 members: eight are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners; and seven appointed by the City Council.
