Department Function

The Durham County Transportation Department works to improve transportation infrastructure and increase the mobility options available to users within Durham County. Through collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC), the City of Durham, as well as other local and regional partners, we strive to ensure a reliable and multifaceted transportation system within the County. The Department contributes to the planning and development of various projects related to roadway, bicycle and pedestrian, rail, and transit infrastructure and operation.
