MED Week 2024 Oct. 14 - 17

MED Week 2024! Minority Enterprise Development Week, an annual celebration recognizing the achievements of minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. This year's theme, "Solidifying Your Next," focused on fostering future growth through workshops, networking opportunities, and community support. HUB Vendor Meet and Greet - August 14

At the Durham County HUB Vendor Meet and Greet, county departments had a unique opportunity to connect directly with over 140 HUB-certified businesses. Held during Black Business Month, this event facilitated valuable interactions between local minority and women-owned businesses and representatives from more than 20 county departments. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, sharing expertise and exploring potential collaborations. This vibrant gathering not only fostered new relationships but also laid the groundwork for future partnerships, enhancing opportunities within our community. Check out the photos here.

Supplier Diversity Luncheon - May 29

At the Supplier Diversity luncheon, county departments had the unique opportunity to directly engage with both the supplier diversity team and our program managers. This allowed us to delve deeply into an analysis of past spending habits, providing valuable insights into our procurement procedures. Collaboratively, we explored various strategies and initiatives geared towards assisting departments in reaching our ambitious goal of 25% procurement from historically underutilized business certified suppliers. Womens Empowerment - April 13

Durham County’s Supplier Diversity Department hosted a table during Radio One’s 2024 Women’s Empowerment Expo on April 13. The information table highlighted the work of the department, giving great focus to Durham County's Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) efforts. During the event, Supplier Diversity collaborated with various vendors in attendance, enrolling many in our vendor portal. Check out the photos here

Chix Dig It - March 28

"Chix Dig It" was more than just an event—it was a celebration of women in the construction industry and a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Patricia Lucas Smith. Through inspiring stories, valuable networking opportunities, and supportive panels, women in construction were able to showcase their achievements, connect with peers, and gain valuable insights. HUB Outreach - March 21

During the RTP Hub Outreach event held on March 21, 2024, stakeholders shared information about how businesses can benefit from providing their products and services to the Research Triangle Foundation. The Research Triangle Foundation is currently building HUB RTP that will include restaurants, apartments, hotels, and other gathering places. Check out the photos here.

MED Week 2023 - Empowering Change & Breaking Barriers

MED Week stands for Minority Enterprise Development Week. It's an annual celebration recognizing the achievements and contributions of minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs across the nation. During MED Week, various events, workshops, and networking opportunities are organized to support and promote the growth and success of minority-owned enterprises. This is our chance to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in business and to showcase the resilience and innovation of minority entrepreneurs here in Durham County. Empower Durham - August 8

Durham County, the City of Durham, Duke University and the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority are partnering to present Empower Durham. Each organization will present its upcoming business opportunities and network with interested business owners.
