Report a Pothole in Durham City/ County
When you see a pothole report it to the City of Durham Public Works' new hotline, (919) 560-1177. The new pothole repair line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A hotline operator will be available to record necessary information including the specific location of the pothole and its approximate size. Again, Durham's new pothole hotline is (919) 560-1177.

Responsibility for public roadway maintenance, street resurfacing, alley and sidewalk maintenance inside the city limits of Durham, and the maintenance of the storm water drainage system within the City's right-of-way are managed by the City of Durham Public Works Street Maintenance Division. Sedimentation And Erosion Control Ordinance
The Durham County Engineering Sedimentation and Erosion Control Division administers and enforces the Durham County and City Sedimentation and Erosion Control Ordinance. Jurisdiction of this office includes all privately funded, non-agricultural land disturbing activities or more than 12,000 square feet in both the City of Durham and the unincorporated areas of Durham County. This office reviews erosion control plans for construction sites of 1 acre or more and issues land disturbing permits for sites of 12,000 square feet or more. To report stray animals, you should contact the Durham County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 560-0900. Provide the dispatcher with your name, address and telephone number (calls regarding Animal Cruelty and At Large complaints can be accepted anonymously, however complaints regarding Animal Nuisance will not be accepted anonymously). Provide the dispatcher with the nature of the call (type of violation you are reporting) and all pertinent information pertaining to the complaint.
