The Redwood Convenience Site renovation is next!
Durham County operates three Solid Waste Convenience Sites that offer drop-off service for recycling and waste disposal for Unincorporated Durham County residents.
Residents must display the beige 24-25 Solid Waste Decal in order to use these services. All other users will be turned away. 2024-2025 Solid Waste Decals were included as an insert with the property tax bill that arrived in August. If you do not have a decal, please contact the Tax Office at 919-560-0300. Please make sure to look through all of the inserts before calling about a missing decal.
NOTE: Decals are included in tax bills for unincorporated properties with a home. City residents do not receive a decal because they are not assessed the County's Solid Waste Fee.
Please bag garbage/household waste.
Restrictions
Convenience Sites are for residential waste only. We cannot accept any commercial waste. If you have been paid to haul the waste, that waste is considered "commercial" and cannot be disposed of at our facilities.
We DO NOT accept any CONSTRUCTION OR DEMOLITION material, even if you completed the project yourself. This is in accordance with our Solid Waste Ordinance. In the past, we had accepted that from residents as a courtesy, but due to budget reductions and in order to follow our ordinance, we will no longer accept that material. Construction and Demolition waste is defined as any waste that is generated from the construction, renovation, repair, remodeling, or demolition of a structure. This includes wood waste, rolls of carpet, drywall, windows, treated lumber, toilets, tiles, etc. If you have material of this type, please review this list of potential outlets.
No dual wheeled vehicles or trailers. No box trucks, enclosed trailers, or commercial vehicles.
Trailers may not be longer than 8 feet with side rails no higher than 4 feet.
Site Attendants may limit yard waste loads in times of high activity in order to preserve space for all customers.
