CONTEST PURPOSE

Durham County has recently launched the “DCo On The Go” mobile initiative, featuring a new vehicle designed to extend county services directly to residents. This mobile office is equipped with broadband access, meeting spaces, and large screens, and is currently under construction following its approval in the Durham County budget.

In order to beautify this innovative mobile office, Durham County initiated an art contest, inviting local artists to contribute designs. The contest sought distinctive artwork from youth and adult artists for the rear and sides of the vehicle, respectively.

NEXT STEPS

The submission period has now concluded, and we are moving forward to the next phases of the contest:

1. Review and Compliance: Contest managers are currently reviewing submissions to ensure they meet the required guidelines.

2. Judging: A panel of judges will evaluate the submissions based on creativity, adherence to contest rules, and representation of Durham County’s diversity and landmarks.

3. Announcement of Winners: The top selections will be finalized by May 15, 2024. Winners will be contacted directly and invited to a formal ceremony at the Durham Board of County Commissioners’ chambers, where they will be officially announced.

PRIZE PACKAGE The winners will receive the following rewards:

• Adult Artists (18+):

  • First Prize: $1,000
  • Second Prize: $500
  • Third Prize: $250

• Youth Artists (Grades 6-12):

  • First Prize: $250
  • Second Prize: $100
  • Third Prize: $50

The final announcement will take place during the County Commissioners Regular Session Meeting on June 10, 2024, starting at 7:00 PM. Results will also be posted on the Durham County website.
