County Announces 2013 Memorial Day Holiday Schedule
Durham, NC – Durham County Government will close most of its offices on Monday, May 27 in recognition of the Memorial Day. All county offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, with normal hours of operation.
Durham County Library:
Durham County Library (all locations) will be closed on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day holiday. The library will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, May 28.

Durham County Convenience Sites:
The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on Monday, May 27. Durham County residents with a current solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on Tuesday, May 28, beginning at 7 a.m.
The Durham County roadside recycling schedule for customers on Schedule A, normally serviced the week of Monday, May 27, will maintain the same schedule. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 6 a.m., on the day of pick up, to avoid a missed collection.
Residents are reminded that leaving trash, garbage or recyclables outside the gates of the Convenience Centers is not permitted while sites are closed.

Durham County Social Services:
The Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will follow the County’s holiday closing schedule. During the holiday closing, residents should report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect, by calling 911 to reach an on-call social worker.
