The Durham Local Reentry Council (LRC), spearheaded by the Durham County Criminal Justice Resource Center (CJRC), hosted a kickoff event celebrating the collaborative work to provide innovative responses to the reintegration of justice involved individuals in Durham.
Community-based organizations interested in offering assistance and resources to help justice involved individuals become productive residents were invited to attend the event for the opportunity to network with other stakeholders and gain more insight into the mission and vision for the Durham LRC.
In early 2017, the Department of Public Safety awarded four organizations contracts to establish new reentry councils designed to develop and coordinate resources in their communities for the support of justice involved individuals in order to reduce recidivism and victimization. Durham County CJRC was a recipient. The Durham County Criminal Justice Advisory Committee (CJAC) serves as the Executive Committee for the council while the advisory committee consists of local agencies and individuals interested in providing ongoing services and support.
The kickoff was free and open to the public.
