HomeNovember 11 Heritage & Cultural Highlight: Veterans Day
The office of Equitable Well-Being encourages Durham County employees and citizens to celebrate and honor Veterans Day alongside our Durham County Office of Veterans Services. "The mission of Veterans Services is to actively provide effective counsel to veterans and/or their family members on veterans' benefits offered by the federal, state and local government. Assistance is provided in the preparation of forms and the supporting documents necessary to file claims." Veterans Services invites you to participate in two upcoming events to honor our local veterans:
- The County will take part in Operation Green Light from November 4-11, shining a green light to support military veterans, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families. Citizens are asked to change out a regular light bulb with a green light bulb in their homes and/or places of business in support of Operation Green Light. Veterans Services has a limited number to provide the public; please contact their office directly for more information.
- 2024 Veterans Day Celebration: The community is invited to join in honoring service members and their families at the Friday, November 8 event to be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Countywide Meeting Rooms B and C of the Durham County Human Services Building, located at 414 E. Main Street.
