Durham, NC (Thursday, December 14, 2023) - Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime and Narcotics unit (SAC/Narc) working off information gathered from sources in the community have concluded an investigation of Mr. Franklin "Frankie" Rodriquez, 42, of Durham. During the investigation, it was learned that Rodriquez was selling narcotics out of his residence in the 200 block of Seven Oaks Rd. Having obtained a search warrant, investigators went to the location last night. It was at that time they located trafficking amounts of heroin, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.In addition, Rodriquez possessed a polymer semi-automatic pistol (aka “ghost gun”).
The suspect was immediately taken into custody without incident and booked into the Durham County Detention Center on charges of:
M/S/D/P Controlled Substance w/in 1000ft school (3 Counts)
Maintain Veh/Dwell/Place for Controlled Substance (F) (4 Counts)
Possession of Firearm by Felon
PWIMSD Marijuana
Trafficking in Methamphetamine
Trafficking in Cocaine
Trafficking in Opium or Heroin
In addition to these most recent charges, he was served with arrest warrants from a previous True Bill of Incident on additional drug-related charges. Rodriquez, who has a lengthy criminal record with felony convictions in Georgia, New Jersey, and also here in North Carolina, remains in the Durham County Detention Center without the benefit of bond.
He made his first appearance this morning.
Sheriff Birkhead said: “It is no secret this suspect has an extensive criminal footprint up and down the eastern seaboard. Once again, we thank the local community for saying something after they saw something.”
